Latex, plywood hardboard, dpm, micro coat and more.
With floor prepping we always check on whats underneath your original floor.
Plywood
For example rip up your old floor and find that its on floorboards, we will plywood over the floorboards and give the joins on the ply with a micro coat to give your floor a smooth finish.
if we rip up and find that your floor is on concrete we will then give it a scrape, sweep and hoover, ready to be primed and latex.
Priming.
There is all different types of Primers
some contain additives designed to address certain conditions in the subfloor, for example a sealant for concrete to stop air bubbles from rising up through the underlayment.
Alos another reason for priming before latex is so that it gives the subfloor a cleaner surface and stops any remaining dust getting on the latex causing it to be weaker.
Latex.
How latex works, latex is a self levelling compound mixed with either water or its owns mixing liquid depending on which one is best for your floor. It takes up to 3-4 hours to dry, once dry we sand and give it a micro coat to get rid of any in perfections.
DPM
Damp Proofing Membrane.
DPM is a membrane material applied to stop moisture transmission. DPM is a polyethylene sheet laid under concrete to prevent the concrete from gaining moisture through.
